A Day in the Life at Shiplake

A day in the life of a Year 9 boy

At 7 o’clock I really want to go back to sleep but I would miss bacon and egg and lots more. Then it is preparation for lessons, some days it is assembly, tutor period or chapel.

Some lessons are fun like Chemistry, Physics and ICT where we have lots of practical work. We have 8 lessons a day which take 35 minutes, but most subjects have a double lesson.

We have a break after the first four lessons. We get buns and you can play pool back at the house. It is more friendly here than my last school and I feel like part of the Shiplake community.

Two more lessons and it is time for lunch. Some of the lunches are delicious but there are other meals I don’t like as much. After lunch it is usually two more lessons. I am happy with the lessons at Shiplake. They encourage me, they push me and I learn something every lesson.

We play sport every day at 3.15 except on Wednesdays and Saturdays when we start at 2.15. We all love sport, it is fun. On Thursdays we have a choice of activities from Golf to Design and Technology but you can choose more sport if you want to.

After games I go to the music room with my friends to play some stuff we made and after that I go skateboarding

We get two lots of prep in the evening. Then it is party time. We play some games usually on the computer or go to the tuck shop to get a toasty. Then it is lights out.
