Year 9 Scholarships
Each year three scholarships are offered for Year 9 pupils who are registered for a places for the following September. Potential scholars are recommended by their current school. The standard for scholarships is high and the application must be endorsed by the pupil’s subject teachers and a written reference. The Year 9 Scholarship Day takes place in March each year.

Art
Candidates are required to bring to the scholarship day a portfolio showing work done, both in and outside the school environment and, if possible, a sketchbook showing interests. Scholarship candidates who have interesting 3D work should bring this along or if it is not possible, have photographs of such work.

Music
Candidates should be of Grade lV standard and above in their first study instrument. Good sight reading ability is an advantage as is some keyboard skill and a sound knowledge of music theory to Grade lV. Reports from all their music teachers should be sent to the school one week prior to the scholarship day.

Sport
Candidates should not only be talented and skilful players, but should show qualities of leadership and a depth of understanding in their chosen sport. They are likely to be of County Standard. They must send in one week prior to the scholarship day a written record of all their achievements during the past two years together with references from coaches or trainers.

Sixth Form Scholarships
Candidates studying at the College and external candidates registered for Sixth Form entry in the following September are invited to apply for an Academic Scholarship if they are forecast to achieve top grades in their GCSE results.

Applications
On the Sixth Form Scholarship day, which usually takes place in late February, candidates take examinations in two subjects that they have studied at GCSE and are likely to study at AS Level. They also sit a General Academic Aptitude Test and have two interviews with the Heads of Department in their chosen speciliast subjects.

All scholarships are means-tested.
