Academic Added Value

With an average class size of just 16, teachers are able to focus on the individual. They have time to spend with each pupil, focusing on his or her particular needs.

Teachers understand that pupils learn in different ways. Many pupils enjoy learning through listening and through practical experience. Learning can be fun. There is more to Shiplake lessons than dictation and making notes from text books.

At AS and A2 the average class size is around 9 which gives every pupil the opportunity to take part in class discussions.

The College has excellent ICT provision and the majority of teachers have taken the Intel Teach to the Future course, enabling them to make the most of the available hardware and software.

Every year up to 24 mild dyslexics are admitted to the Learning Support department. They are withdrawn from French and receive specific tuition.
